| Ulrike Zeller Physiotherapist and Shiatsutherapist Since a young adult I experienced in different ways the impact of physical well-being and/or ‘unwell-being’ on my life and learned, very personally, the unity of body/mind/soul and the impact on each level. These led me to Physiotherapy, with the passion for the physical body and guided me immediately after finishing this training to more holistic therapies/methods and philosophies of human life. With Shiatsu I have found a perfect therapy form and a philosophy of life – a method, which meets people in an ‘unintentional’, ‘non judgemental’ and positive and fortifying way. Shiatsu is a technique which asks me for inner debate with my own predicaments as therapist. So I am given the ability to meet other people in a free and open way. The idea of a unity of body, mind, soul is for me no more an abstract word, but experiences, visible, perceptible. Symptoms are therefore a phenomenon of illnesses, but – and this is more important for me – an expression of the life energy ‘QI’ of every single person, which gives me clues and support during my treatment. For the reason, to use this kind of work in a therapeutic way, I joined a school for non-medical practitioners after I finished the training as Shiatsu therapist. The training of Therapeutic Massage in Scotland opened a complete other dimension for and in me. Being present in the moment, open to anything that may be in the other person and/or in me, no avoiding, no attempt to change what is in the action of connecting to another human being through my hands and the acknowledgement of inner emotions/ predicaments. By holding a space with no expectation or need for action muscular tension/holding can move and resolve in a relaxation; emotions can move and predicaments become less threatening. Therapeutic Massage can be a regular support for personal development/inner growing, a form of well-being self-care and a form of body work for physical tensions. For me Therapeutic Massage is an intense and personal encounter with a person in a clear and safe environment with the respect for the persons wish/motivation and predicament. Every treatment is also a journey for myself. The Liebscher & Bracht training gave me first of all an immense pain release for my rheumatoid arthritis pain and helped me to regain my mobility when I was 53 years. One week of stretching got me off pain killers and I am back on running (before that I was just able to run about 20min and then had swollen knees for 3 days and the risk of repetitive meniscus blockages). The techniques of Osteo-pressure for a ‘reset’ in the brain and therefore immense pain release in combination with specific stretching gives each person the skill to reduce significantly and to stop ongoing pain permanently. I found with the L&B technique a way to support my body to become again flexible and strong…and stay that way. In 2009/10 I spent 9 months in New Zealand and Nepal after that period I became member of the Shiatsu Centre in Freiburg, Germany and worked there as Shiatsu therapist and teacher till I met my husband in 2013; I moved to Scotland in January 2014. I combine in my work all my different skills (not necessarily in one session but within a treatment series in accordance with the client). The skill I use in every form of treatment is my presence, my tuning-in, my being in the moment and my non-judgemental approach. First interested in Buddhism, my search for a deeper reality in life led me to Sufism and a spiritual ‘path of the heart’. Regular meditations, and in earlier years Yoga and Iaido, a connection to the tradition of the Native Americans were helpers through the years of finding myself in this life. Vision quest in 2005, prayer dances in 2006 – 2011 and offering regular sweat lodges since 2011 in Scotland. | ![]() Ulrike Zeller, born in 1967, married, and has one son.
